Power Guard (Neutral Failure Relay)
Power guard is the new invention by Pioneer Energy, Protection for the neutral failure.
State Electricity Board is supposed to supply H.T. as well as L.T. Electricity to consumer premises, for predetermined voltages i.e. 440 volts for three phase supply & 230 volts for single phase supply.
But practically, these supply conditions are not maintained. Either voltages shoots up (crosses upper limit) or gets declined (crosses lower limit) & further resulting into damages to the equipments connected.
A break in neutral conductor, within three phase or single phase system, can result into wide voltage variation between phase to phase and phase to neutral& shall cause heavy damages to the equipments connected to the system.
Sometimes, the neutral provided is opened & for single phase supply, reverse phase is fed in place of neutral, resulting into very high voltage (@440 volts) & as a result, due to this sudden voltage shoot-up, the equipment’s connected gets burnt out.
Also if, the RYB sequence initially set is reversed from supply side, resulting into nonfunctioning of the three phase equipments connected.
Power Guard (Neutral Failure Relay) is an ‘Electrical Circuit Protection’. It automatically Cut-OFF the main supply when sudden High Voltage, Low Voltage, Neutral Loss, Phases Loss occurs. It avoids damages to the Three phase & Single phase electrical appliances & wiring.
